City Surveillance
Ethernet Switch with Video-Optimized IGMP Ensures the Quality of Video Multicast
South Thailand, 2009
To ensure the public security, the city authority of south Thailand deployed a large IP surveillance system. More than 3000 BOSCH IP cameras are connected through 1,400 pieces of Korenix Ethernet switches to the monitor center. Along with Korenix surveillance-optimized technology and profound IP know-how, the large amount of video streams are delivered reliably and quality.

Typical large city surveillance has levels of monitor centers. The foundation sites are close to the field, in the middle is the district-level center, and the top is city-level central center. While the foundation site monitors all the images within its area, the upper level monitor is required to monitor any images of them for critical events.
Korenix breaks the large surveillance system into levels. The cameras within a local area connected to the foundation site through Korenix redundant ring technology. Each foundation site are then connected to the district level by gigabit backbone. Every swtich runs Korenix optimized IGMP snooping to provide end-to-end multicast management from the IP camera to the watching monitor centers.
System Requirement
- Deliver large amount of video without downgradeof image quality
- Images can be monitored by more than one site at the same time
- Reliable network service
Why JetNet 4010 and JetNet 5010G
- Gigabit redundant ring enhances the reliability of the backbone
- MultiRing technology with great scalability connects the rings on foundation sites
- Each ring works independently. Any influence resulted from a network failure are isolated within the area.
- Optimized IGMP snooping and IGMP query manage multicast video effectively
